The fishing fleet continues to grow on the Providence River as word spreads about the striper bite.

Fishing continues to improve for boaters and shore fishermen.

Casting clam necks inside the Hurricane Barrier, near the Hot Club, Efvain Valle took a 35-inch bass around 9 a.m. today.

He had been fishing with squid without luck, he said. Then he switched to clam necks, and the keeper took the bait.

Fishing from kayaks off the north end of Jamestown this morning, Ed Hughes and Mike Laptew caught bass and bluefish. "There were massive blitzes," said Ed as he stepped off the boat.
