Capt. Frank Blount, owner of the Frances Fleet, reports that anglers crushed the cod on the weekend trip to George's Bank.

"Anglers had as many as 50 nice green market cod apiece with the average angler somewhere in the 20 to 30 keeper range," he said. "There were loads of cod just short as well keeping anglers very busy throughout the day. All the action was on jigs and teasers with very few on bait.

"The water was oil slick-calm and teeming with sand eels and herring from top to bottom! All the bait which brought the schools of cod also brought many whales and porpoises along with various sea birds and schools of bluefin tuna which anglers could see crashing through the bait all day long. Even a few giants and porbeagle sharks were seen!"
