Rhode Island's tautog-fishing season closes Dec.15, and blackfish are still biting, according to Frank Blount, owner of the Frances Fleet. Despite wind and murky water, blackfish were biting this week. On Wednesday's trip, one angler caught a limit, and several other fishermen took four or five keepers apiece. On the Fleet's mid-week cod trip, sea bass were much more cooperative than cod. Anglers also caught bluefish and some throw-back scup. Forecasters are calling for cold, partly cloudy weather tomorrow. Sunday could be a blow-out. |
