Before cold weather arrived, Shane and Nathan Bettencourt caught these blackfish near Conimicut Light.

Most of the bass that are biting along the South County coast have been schoolies, says Jack Sprengle of Quaker Lane Bait and Tackle. Larger bass may still be on the way.

Srtriper fishermen have been catching keepers on eels on the east side of Dutch Island, he reports.

Tautog fishing is excellent along the Newport shore, he says, and some keeper-size blackfish have been biting on the incoming tide near Plum Beach Light, just north of the Jamestown Bridge.
