Projo Fishing: HotBytes |
Bottom fishing was good to anglers fishing aboard the party boats of the Frances Fleet over the weekend. They caught tautog as large as 10 pounds apiece Saturday, and some fishermen caught their limits. The blackfish continued to bite Sunday, and the fleet's cod boat caught cod, sea bass and bluefish. "This past fall season has showcased some of the most consistent cod action in nearly a decade with some nice green fish being taken day in and day out everywhere," reports Frank Blount, owner of the fleet. Inshore, the blackfish bite has been good, reports Sam Tolland of Sam's Bait & Tackle in Middletown. The striper action, however, is pretty slow. "Some guys are catching bass at night," he said. "They're using eels or fresh squid that they've caught." There is a small run of squid at the Goat Island causeway. |
