Blackfish and bass biting in breachways

Shore fishermen are catching tautog along the breachways of South County's salt ponds, says George Forsberg of Quonny Bait & Tackle.

Last week's bass and bluefish bites - hot over the weekend - slowed last Monday, and have remained flat during the week. Blitzes along the beaches have been spotty, but anglers have been taking a few bas in the breachways.

Along the beaches, bass and bluefish blitzes have been spotty. Ed Hughes reported a big blitz at Matunuck this week.

Party-boat fishermen are catching plenty of blackfish, sea bass and cod, reports Frank Blount, owner of the Frances Fleet.
