Greg Wallace of Warwick and a group of friends took turns on the rod to land a 395-pound thresher shark at the Mud Hole yesterday.

They were fishing aboard Capt. Charlie Donilon's new Snappa charter boat. It took them just over two hours to subdue the 13.5-foot-long shark, Charlie said.

The new Snappa is a 46-foot fiberglass custom sportfisherman. The hull is a Wesmac, built in Surry, Maine, with the finish work completed by Fernandez Custom Boats. It is licensed to carry up to 25 passengers. The power plant is a Caterpillar C-15, 853 H.P. diesel with a cruising speed of 20 knots. The cabin is completely enclosed with cushion seating, dinette, head with shower, galley and three bunks. A full array of state-of-the-art electronics is located on the bridge, Charlie says.
