For light-tackle anglers, stripers are thick at Sakonnet

"Both Friday and Saturday, I found more stripers feeding on top than I have ever seen," writes Aquidneck Island angler Mike McGaw. "The fish were right in the same place yesterday, between Sakonnet Point and Warren's Point, fairly close to the Little Compton shore. They are feeding on very small bait, and I found a ½-ounce Kastmaster to get hit every time today. There are some keeper size fish mixed in with lot's of small stuff and very few bluefish. This is great light-tackle action. Bring your lightest spinning rod and have fun. If this year is anything like last, these fish will stay there for at least a week."
