"All good things must end, and so goes the run of bass off the western Rhode Island beaches," writes Pat Abate of Rivers End Tackle at the mouth of the Connecticut River. "Both the bait and bass have taken off possibly to return. "Theres been some bass locally but not a great deal of them. "As usual, bass are schooling this time of year and there's a lot of empty water between schools. One thing to keep aware of now is that even though most are looking for schools of bass when the sun shines, the most consistent catches come after lights are out." Based on what he is seeing beneath the surface, Mike Laptew, "The Diving Fisherman," believes that the big bass are on the way. Steve Travisono of Breachway Bait & Tackle says tautog are biting in shallow water off the beaches in Charlestown. This will be the last HotBytes posting for a couple of weeks. It's vacation time. Good luck. CommentsLeave a comment |

Went out Saturday one last time before putting the boat away. Fished in the Warren River. A biting cold day! Small Stripe Bass ranging from 20 to 26 inches are still biting on clam baits.
