Tim Yvon, a former commercial fisherman and carpenter, has opened Quonny Bait & Tackle at the site of Captain Don's Bait & Tackle in Charlestown. The store is at the intersection of Rte. 1 and Rte. 216.

Tim is a surf fisherman. He does have a small boat, but he uses it to travel from Barn Island in Stonington, Conn. to Napatree Point in Watch Hill where he disembarks to fish from shore.

Striper fishing is slowing down, he says, but the bluefish bite is picking up. And autumn action is just around the corner.

Yesterday, Tim spoke with Tom Meade about favorite fishing spots, lure styles and colors. You can hear Tim Yvon here.

I have known Tim for quite some time. He is not only an intensely dedicated surf fisherman, but a great human being. I expect his new tackle shop to prosper with his heart and dedication steering the wheel.
