Kevin Bachand caught this 8.9-pound fluke at Block Island Nils Christensen, creator of Ultimate Kayak Fishing, reports: After fishing the Misquamicut beaches on Saturday with no moving water and slow- moving tides that produced some black sea bass but no fluke... We decided to head over to Block Island on Sunday and fish the south side for fluke. Leaving in the morning with two boats, we had a beautiful ride with calm water. When we got there, we split up and started fishing different depths and structure. The fishing was slow until the water started moving around noon, and we landed fluke up to 8.9 pounds in 60 to 80 feet of water. Besides Kevin Bachand's 8.9-pound fluke, we had several up to 5 pounds and some decent size black sea bass. There are big scup, big dogfish, big skates and big bluefish in the same area, so anyone can get their fill of fishing and not a dull moment. |
