The first bonito of the season have arrived. They were caught in the fish traps off Point Judith, says Ron Mouchon of Breachway Bait & Tackle.

Calib Di Prete and his family were visiting from Georgia this week, and they went fishing with Capt. John Rainone, skipper of the charter boat, L'il Toot. They caught lots of large scup and sea bass off the center wall at Point Judith, says the skipper. The scup in the picture weighed 2.6 pounds.

From Long Island Sound, Pat Abate of River's End Tackle reports: "Bass fishing slowed a bit this week. That large school of big bass on Long Sand Shoal has been scarce for the past few days. There are still a few jumbos hanging around Bartletts, Cornfield and Black Point, succumbing to live bunker, shad or scup."

On the freshwater scene, James Raymond used shiners to catch a 6.5-pound bass on Echo Lake, according to Beverly Mouradjian of Big Bear Tackle.
