Randall Bagwell, captain of River Rebel Charters, writes:
While I was out this morning trying catch striped bass for the Allen family, my son Capt. Joe Bagwell of River Rebel Charters and Capt. Bill Major of Majaday Charters were gearing up for the Oak Bluffs Shark Tournament and called to tell me they just landed a 500-pound thresher shark on live bluefish. The fish was weighed in at a marina in Fairhaeven and the actual weight was 496 pounds, with a lenght to the fork of 8 feet and total lenght overall of 16 feet.
As far as my charter: Mr. Allen was pleased to see his to youg sons land their first keeper bass near Popasquash Point. Bass fishing has slowed a bit but the bass are still in upper Bay with bluefish taking over.
