After this weekend's fishing, Chris Willi of Block Island Fishworks reported:"Bass and blues aplenty around the island. Charter boat Hula Girl picked up 39- and 25-pounders while fishing the southwest area with eels. Beach fishing has been stellar at night or early morning with a moving tide. Sand eel imitations are the norm. The biggest fish reported on the fly this week was 38 inches. Greg Snow fished the rip with a friend at the beginning of the week and landed a 14-pound bluefish. Many of the shore fishermen have reported 20-plus fish nights, but all are small. One report of bluefin tuna very close to the island but before it blew northeast. Waiting to see them for myself!"

Thom Pelletier of ThomCat lures says, "Fluke fishing continues to be hot off the Harbor of Refuge's center wall in 40 to 50 feet, zigzagging through the lobster pots. Sizes are getting better with each trip. There are good numbers of 3- to 5-pound fish."
